the dark side of tradition

Very good! I think I will forward it to many portuguese people. In Portugal, tradition literally kills animals :-(

I love especially the part which involves tradition. Because it IS a cultural thing, as well.

In fact the most exquisite dishes and most skilled cooks involve having fish and seafood as fresh as possible, even if that involves great pain for the poor animals to be cut and served while still alive. That is cruelty. and tradition in some cultures...

It is very good indeed.
About tradition, have tou seen this video:
Armazém - Tradições Inaceitáveis? It is in portuguese, the words are important, but maybe only the images can make you understand the point.

In Portugal we have bullfights which only purpose is to entertain, torture disguised as tradition. The villages parties would still be very good with some other normal games to substitute bullfights (bullfights are psycho). In a way it is stubbornness and resistance to change, specially if the change is not for our own good but for the good of another (for the good of an animal? who could think of something so selfishness? the nerve!). Tradition that suffocates the brain sucks!

Benjamina I knew the video from Animal, always updated with their news :) Very good indeed, thanks for sharing :-)

Wow, very good video! I did understand the message, not the spoken words, but the images and the text (a bit).

I am still wondering how this is ever going to change? How can we convice these people they are wrong? I talked to someone today and we were thinking...maybe to them it's comparable with saying not to eat eggs on Easter (of course, I mean comparable as in how traditional it is, not really comparable, though)?

If they are convinced...how can we change that? This kind of videos (replacing an animal with a human might be a good attempt, as they force the mind to imagine something in theory equally possible but just as cruel and absurd.

This link is only for people with a tough stomach...but it shows that human cruelty seems to have no end...

Are you people vegetarians or vegans?

A gente consegue mudar culturas, felizmente.
