The other day something funny happened to me. I was at the supermarket, completely tired, with my backpack filled with papers to read plus laptop, and while Im figuring out what I need and looking around, a little blond boy comes to me and gives me a gentle kiss on my arm. He was maybe 4/5 years old (dont know, Im very bad estimating these things - ok, somewhere between 4 and 7 years old). What do you do in a situation like this??? His mother finally noticed it (yes, he was looking at me in absolute wonder) and she was quite shocked (not more than I was!), she apologized a lot, and I said "no problem". The little boy was still looking at me, and I just put my hand on his head and said "süß". In fact it was one of the sweetest things that happened to me here in Germany...
I wish my german skills were better than "süß"... hmm...by the way, I wish my english skills would also improve ;-)

Kids just do what they feel they ought to do. They are more reasonable and brave than any of us adults.
